Shukrana is a 50-year-old from Brandlesholme, Bury who came to Evolve Fitness Performance wanting to feel better in herself and completely turn her life around as she approached a milestone birthday.
The Challenge
Before joining, Shukrana felt like she wasn’t truly living well.
Like many busy mums, she had spent years putting everyone else first—her family, her home, her responsibilities—while her own health and wellbeing took a back seat.
She also wanted to improve her running performance, especially with events like Race for Life and her regular Parkruns, but lacked the structure and support to progress.
Deep down, she knew she didn’t want the next 20 years to feel the same as the last.
Why They Nearly Didn't Start
Shukrana had never seen herself as “a gym person”.
The idea of joining a gym felt intimidating and out of reach, and like many, she questioned whether she would actually stick to it.
The Turning Point
After starting the LiveWell programme, everything changed.
She quickly began to feel better—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too.
For the first time in years, she started putting herself first.
With structured training, support, and a welcoming environment, showing up became something she genuinely looked forward to.
The Results
Since joining Evolve, Shukrana has achieved:
Noticeable weight loss
Improved running performance and faster race times
Completed Race for Life 5K faster than her Parkrun time
Increased daily energy and motivation
A stronger, happier mindset and outlook on life
Consistent routine with gym, running, walking, and swimming
The confidence to prioritise herself without guilt
Here’s what she had to say:
“Honestly, it’s been life-changing. I feel like a totally different person—I’ve got my zest for life back. I spring out of bed in the morning and I’m ready to go. For the first time in 50 years, I’m putting myself first. The environment is so friendly and supportive—it feels like family. My only regret is that I didn’t start sooner.”
What This Means for You
If you’ve spent years putting yourself last or feel like it’s “too late” to make a change—Shukrana’s story proves otherwise.
You can feel stronger, healthier, and happier at any stage of life. Sometimes, it just takes that first step.
