Penny is from Bury and joined Evolve Fitness Performance just over two years ago after struggling to find a fitness routine that truly worked for her body.
The Challenge
Before working with us, Penny described her fitness routine as “up and down”.
More importantly, she had been dealing with ongoing hip pain for a long time. She’d seen physios, doctors, had scans — but nothing seemed to fully solve the issue.
The gyms she’d tried before weren’t addressing the root of the problem. Exercises weren’t tailored, and she wasn’t getting the guidance she needed to move properly and pain-free.
Why She Nearly Didn't Start
Like many people, Penny wasn’t sure if this would be any different.
She joined initially through a six-week programme she saw on Facebook — with the mindset of “let’s just give it a go and see what happens.”
There was no guarantee it would work… just hope that it might.
The Turning Point
Very quickly, Penny realised this wasn’t like a typical gym.
Instead of being left to figure things out alone, she had coaches guiding every movement — adjusting exercises to suit her body and making sure everything was done correctly.
For the first time, her training was tailored specifically to her needs, especially around her hip issues.
That’s when things started to change.
The Results
After over two years of consistent training, Penny achieved:
Significant reduction in hip pain
Stronger hips and legs with improved function
Better overall strength and movement quality
Ability to stay active without constant discomfort
Completed a 5.5-hour hike pain-free (a huge personal milestone)
Renewed confidence in her body and what it can do
Here’s what she had to say:
“It’s turned out to be the best thing I’ve ever done. The coaching is completely different — everything is tailored to you. My hips and legs have improved massively, and I can see the difference in everyday life.”
“I recently completed a 5-and-a-half-hour hike up the Old Man of Coniston — something I couldn’t have imagined before. I was so proud, and I couldn’t have done it without Evolve.”
What This Means for You
If you’ve been struggling with pain, injuries, or feel like nothing has worked — Penny’s story is proof that the right training can make all the difference.
It’s not about doing more… it’s about doing what’s right for your body.
